Since 2020, theatre marketing consultant and educator Julie Nemitz has been changing how local theatres market their productions using her podcast In The Greenroom Theatre Marketing Podcast as her virtual stool in the town square, reaching local theatremakers across the globe, town by town, region by region.
In The Greenroom Theatre Marketing Podcast grew 389% in listenership in 2022, averaging 483 listeners per episode within a 30 day window. In December of that year, the podcast hit #60 in Great Britain, #54 in Canada, and #133 in Australia. (sources: Spotify and Chartable). To date, over 12,000 episodes have been downloaded.
On the podcast, Julie shares the latest in marketing innovation and content best practices to grow revenue and audience loyalty. She also features current theatre news, trends, and, importantly, interviews with some of the country's best creative theatremakers. Her top episodes to date are, in fact, interviews with theatre leaders and theatremakers exploring how they market and promote the joy of live theatre in their communities.
Julie is an in-demand theatre marketing consultant and founder of Theatre Marketing Lab, where she guides regional and community theatres worldwide. She teaches Performing Arts Marketing at Western Michigan University, Rhode Island College, and regular masterclasses for the American Association of Community Theatres and The Presenters Association.
